Please join us for a conversation with Mary Elliott, Curator at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture on May 10, from 18:00-19:00 CET
Ms. Elliott has over twenty years of experience in researching and presenting African American history and culture. Her personal research focuses on antebellum slavery, Reconstruction and African Americans in Indian Territory, with a specific concentration on Black kinship networks, migration, and community development.
In her presentation, The Story of Slavery and Freedom in the 21st Century Museum, Mary will examine how the museum provides meaningful engagement, empowering audiences to confront difficult history, celebrate the power of the human spirit, learn from the past and be thoughtful global citizens.
This meeting, organized by the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow, in collaboration with Jagiellonian University Institute of English Studies will be moderated by Dr. Michał Choiński (Jagiellonian University Institute of English Studies), and will be followed by an audience Q&A.
