STUDYING IN POLAND
1. Individuals who are not citizens of Poland can be
accepted for the studies in UAS in Nysa if they:
- have acquired a visa or a residence card or other document authorizing
them to stay in the Polish Republic territory,
- have obtained a health certificate stating that there are no objections
to undertake the chosen field of studies and the form of education,
- are insured against health risks or accident for the time of their education
in Poland or have obtained the European Health Insurance Card or insurance
at the National Health Fund or NFZ immediately after the start of education.
2. A foreigner may take up studies:
- according to the rules applicable to Polish citizens,
- according to other terms than those applicable to Polish citizens.
3. The individuals listed below can be eligible for
undertaking education at the UAS in Nysa according to the rules applicable
to Polish citizens:
- Foreigners holding the residence permit in the territory of the Republic
of Poland;
- Foreigners holding a valid Poles Card (Karta Polaka);
- Foreigners who possess the status of refugee, granted in the Republic
of Poland;
- Foreigners who are eligible for temporary protection on the territory
of the Republic of Poland;
- Foreigners who are eligible for complementary protection on the territory
of the Republic of Poland;
- Foreigners who are migrating employees with a citizenship in one of the
EU Member States, the Swiss Confederation, EFTA States, or a member party
of the European Economic Area Treaty, which extends to their family members
provided that they also reside in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- Foreigners who have been issued a long-term residence permit of the European
Community in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- Foreigners who have been issued a residence permit for a defined period
of time (see Article 53.1, item 7, 13 and 14 of the Act of Law of 13 June
2003 on foreign citizens)
- Foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory
of the Republic of Poland;
- Foreigners who are citizens of one of the EU Member States or the EFTA
States, that are members of the European Economic Area Treaty, or the Swiss
Confederation, which extends to their family members provided that they
also reside in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
After their acceptation at the UAS in Nysa the foreigners
listed above are allowed to apply for following scholarships/grants:
- social grants;
- grants for the disabled;
- Rectors scholarship for the best students;
- Polish Minister's of Education Scholarship for educational achievements;
- Polish Minister's of Education Scholarship for remarkable achievements;
- Polish Minister's of Education Scholarship for remarkable sporting
achievements.
Citizens of EU Member States, the Swiss Confederation or Member
States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - parties to the European
Economic Area not listed above, their family members, as well as the individuals
who have a valid Poles Card and those who have the means sufficient to cover
their cost of living during their period of stay, can take up and pursue further
studies, doctoral studies and other forms of education and participate in research
and development work on the terms applicable to Polish citizens, provided that
they are not entitled to social grants, grants for the disabled, accommodation
grants, grants on food and social maintenance, or on the conditions applied
to the foreigners who are not the citizens of the above mentioned organizations.
4. Foreigners can be accepted to studies conducted
in the Polish language, if they:
- complete a one-year course in preparation for undertaking studies in
Polish at centers appointed by the relevant Minister in charge of matters
relating to higher education, or
- have obtained a language certificate issued by the State Commission for
the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language, or
- have obtained confirmation issued by UAS in Nysa that their Polish language
preparation and level of command allows them to study in Polish.
5. Foreigners are allowed to take up studies in foreign
languages (English, German) if they submit an appropriate document/certificate
of confirming their foreign language skills in that language (at least B2 level)
or if they pass a language exam held at UAS in Nysa.
6. Foreigners who choose to participate in selected
classes/courses/modules held in English language are obliged to attend
POLISH LANGUAGE COURSE and pass the Polish Language Exam after 1st year of studies.
7. Foreigners who take up studies on other principles
than those applying to Polish citizens:
- Citizens of non-EU/EFTA countries, who are not qualified and allowed
to study on the basis of the principles applicable to citizens of Poland;
- Holders of the valid Poles Card (Karta Polaka), who resign from the
admission on the basis of the principles applicable to citizens of Poland
(eg. Republic of Poland scholarship holders)
- Citizens of EU/EFTA countries, who decided to take up studies in Poland
on the conditions referring to the citizens from non-EU/EFTA countries.
Those foreigners are allowed to undertake studies on the basis of:
- International agreements, according to the principles determined in these
agreements; (list of agreement at the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher

- Agreements drawn between foreign subjects and colleges of higher education,
according to the principles determined in these agreements;
- Decision of the Minister responsible for the higher education system or
the Minister appointed in compliance with Art. 33 Entry 3 of the Act of
27 July 2005 Prawo o szkolnictwie wyższym (Dz. U. Nr 164, poz. 1365 ze zm.);
- Decision of the Rector of the chosen university.

Those foreigners undertake studies:
- As holders of scholarships granted by the Polish side;
- Upon payment of due fees;
- Without paying fees or receiving scholarship-related benefits;
- As holders of scholarships granted by the sending side, without paying
fees for the education;
- As holders of scholarships granted by the chosen university.
Candidates should and submit all required documents by the
deadlines.
8. Foreigners who do not hold Polish citizenship may
be accepted for study if they are:
- in hold of the European Health Insurance Card or insurance at the Narodowy
Fundusz Zdrowia (National Health Fund or NFZ - this refers to any member-state
of EU or EFTA citizen. Information on access to health care in the National

- insured against health risks or accident for the time of their education
in Poland,
- insured in Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia (National Health Fund or NFZ) immediately
after the obtaining permanent residence card - refers to the applicants
who are not citizens of any member-state of the EU or EFTA. .
