The University celebrated the 10th anniversary of Erasmus Programme

From 7-11 April 2014, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa organised a number of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Erasmus Programme. At this time, the University was visited by many distinguished guests from Ukraine, Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Kosovo , Turkey , Italy and France.

There were workshops for foreign guests from partner institutions who are responsible for international cooperation or are involved in the EU projects and programmes. The participants watched the presentation of our University in the context of its internationalisation, and took part in the lecture on "Models of Quality Management Systems" and the workshops on "Time Management in Administration Job".

The most important element of the "International Week" was exchange of experience on the development and implementation of procedures related with international programs and projects as well as the presentation of partner universities and the invitation of new partners. The participants of Erasmus Week showed a very interesting offer of lectures and workshops for students of our University. The lectures dealt with finance, foreign languages, didactics and medical issues. Last day the guests visited schools in Nysa, including SP 1, Carolinum, Diecezjalne Gimnazjum, and Liceum Humanistyczne, where they could learn the Polish educational system and visit regular classes.
During this busy time, a number of other accompanying events were organised, such as a florist workshop "Erasmus Flowers", a train journey around Nysa, an exciting visit to the Institute of Cosmetology, and a trip to Wrocław.

"ETC - European Tranfer of Culture" is as yet one of the most important linguistic conferences organised by the University in Nysa. Around thirty papers were presented, with the following topics being in the center of scholarly attention:

A. Foreign language teaching and regional culture influences

B. Translation problems in didactics of language and literature

C. History and culture of philological studies

During this eventful week, one of the main points was Markiyan Malskyi's visit, the ambassador of Ukraine in Poland. In his speech, the ambassador discussed the contemporary situation in Ukraine, outlined the problems of cultural identity, Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of education and cultural exchange between our countries.

Another eminent guest of the conference and the honour member of the Scientific Committee was Professor Jan Miodek, who delivered two fascinating lectures. The first one, entitled "The Polish language and its neighbours", dealt directly with the topic of the conference, and the other one, which was given at Nyski Dom Kultury for around 500 people, tackled everyday problems with Polish. The main attraction was gala, which was attended by the participants of the Erasmus Week, the scholars participating in the ETC conference, visitors from Poland and abroad. During the gala the Rector of our University expressed her appreciation to all the people involved in the internationalization of the University, including the members of the Department of External Relations and all Coordinators of International Cooperation at the University.

The gala featured a concert by Walk Away band, which was followed by a banquet. The gala was not the only spiritual comfort of the week, as the Jazz Institute organised an open music workshop on percussion - by dr. hab. Piotr Biskupski from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, and on guitar, together with Krzysztof "Puma" Piasecki's recital.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the National Agency for Erasmus expressed appreciation and wished success to the Rector of our University and the Institutional Erasmus Coordinator.

"I am watching with awe the actions of Nysa university, which is developing its 'potential of internationalisation' year by year, reliably implementing scholarship programmes for students and academics. If all employees of the University are as reliable and creative as the staff of the Department of External Relations (...), you can be sure of the future of this University and of the graduates' qualifications and skills. I wish you further success and benefits from Erasmus+ Programme"

The above words set up a direction for future development of the Erasmus Programme and encourage the whole academic community to make even more effort to improve the cooperation.
