1. GRANTING QUALIFICATIONS (PROFESSIONAL DEGREES)

Higher vocational studies at the faculty of English Philology last three years (6 semesters) and end with the Bachelor's degree. The English Philology graduate's general knowledge enables to continue education to obtain the Master's degree and also provides professional training to become a teacher or an interpreter.

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS TO A GIVEN STUDIES PROGRAMME - ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

Admission rules to English Philology consist of two-level procedure: a conversation in the English language and admission based on the certificate of secondary education (passing the entrance exam enables the admission based on the certificate of secondary education). The candidates who are finalists and laureats of English language contests, and also the candidates who passed the DSD II exam and gained not fewer than 70 points, having fulfilled formalities, are allowed to enter the other part of admission procedure.
The candidates who took new secondary school final exams based on new regulations and took exams in subject compulsory at the entrance exam, are qualified from a given subject according to the certificates of secondary education ( they do not take an entrance exam).

3.PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC PREREQUISITES OF STUDIES' CURRICULUM - ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

The prerequisite of the studies at English Philology is philological knowledge executed in literature and linguistics subjects and also preparing future graduates to continue their education to get the Master’s degree at English Philology. A great deal of exercise dealing with the practical knowledge of the English language aims at not only to provide fluency but also cultural competence. Didactic and glotodidactic subjects and professional trainings prepare future teachers. Various translation exercises and translation trainings prepare future interpretors.

4. FURTHER EDUCATION PROSPECTS - ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

The curriculum of the studies enables continuation of the education to get a Master’s degree at universities in Poland at the faculty of English Philology and Applied Linguistics and also at numerous universities abroad at the faculty English Philology and at the pedagogical faculty of English as a Foreign Language.

6. FINAL EXAM PROCEDURE (IF IN A CURRICULUM) - ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

To obtain the Bachelor's degree students are obliged to complete courses listed in the curriculum of the studies in the form of acceptance or exam and submission of the supervised diploma thesis, pass the final Bachelor's exam covering main issues connected with the thesis.

7. PRINCIPLES, METHODS OF GRADING AND EXAMINATION - ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

The semester can be treated as completed after obtaining at least the satisfactory grade in all the subjects in the curriculum of studies including professional training classes and after submitting the record book as well as the record card at the dean's office at the time required for the completion of the semester.
The grades used at the State Higher Vocational School in Nysa: very good, plus good, good, plus satisfactory, satisfactory, unsatisfactory.
Students are required to be active at classes, pass partial tests positively, fulfill other requirements taken into consideration to be assessed.
The subject which is a lecture and is not followed by an exam is accepted as passed on the basis of the final test. In case some classes such as project and laboratory, seminars are not completed then sitting for the exams is made impossible.
