ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISTICS

 

1. VOCATIONAL TITLES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Architecture and urbanistics studies take three and a half years (7 semesters) and are completed with granting the title of architecture engineer. The qualifications obtained enable the graduate to work in various designing, urban planning and building institutions. The studies can be continued at the MSc level.

2. ADMISSION PRINCIPLES

The admission is two-fold: plastic arts examination and certificates contest. Entering the latter is possible on passing the former.

3. OBJECTIVES

The objectives of architecture and urbanistics studies are, in general, vocational skills development oriented, although such issues as social and Ethicsal responsibility are not omitted. They focus particularly on the following:

It is possible to continue architecture and urbanistics studies at MSc level.

6. STUDIES COMPLETION

Granting the title of architecture engineer requires successful completion of all studies subjects, and:

  1. submitting the thesis prepared under the control of a supervisor, and consisting of two parts – textual and graphic
  2. passsing the final, oral diploma exam

7. PRINCIPLES OF ASSESSMENT

Respective semesters of studies are regarded as completed under provision that the student gets at least satisfactory marks for all the classes, whether obligatory or facultative, and submits on time their credit book and card at the dean`s office. System of crediting at the PWSZ in Nysa is as follows:

Crediting criteria include, among others, student`s activity and knowledge. Lectures that do not end with a final exam require passing a written test. Failing project, laboratory and other lecture related classses disallows taking examination.

9. VOCATIONAL TRAINING
The studies include minimum of 6 weeks of vocational training which is strictly related to studies formula and indispensable for studies completion.
Training is carried out at designing offices, building companies and the Institute of Architecture at the PWSZ in Nysa.
Training is organised at state or private sectors on the basis of one of the following ways:

  1. Official agreement between the school and an institution
  2. Individual agreement between a student and an institution
  3. Student`s employment accepted as training

There are two training periods during summer holidays and one during pre-diploma period:

Training is an obligatory element of intramural and extramural studies.
Extramural students may be partially or completely exempt from the obligation if:

  1. Their employment is in line with their studies
  2. Their higher education is akin to architectonic specialisation suitable for construction-building specialisation
  3. They have licences for architectonic or construction-building designing
