1. Qualifications and professional titles

Cosmetology studies take three years (6 semesters) and are completed with granting the title of Licensed Cosmetologist. The Cosmetology graduate possesses basic knowledge in the area of e.g. medical profession, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, psychology, he masters foreign language on the 2B skill level. He has detailed knowledge in the field of formulation and technology of dermatologic drugs and cosmetics, marketing and quality control of the body care and decoration means, and the techniques improving skin functions and aesthetics.
The Cosmetologic Chemistry faculty graduates master the specialistic knowledge focused on the pharmacology and prescription of the substances applied directly on the skin.

2. ADMISSION RULES

The students are admitted according to a high school certificates contest. In the case of the applicants passing the secondary school certificate based on the new regulations all the grading of the examination included on the certificate are counted. In the case of the applicants passing the secondary school certificate based on the old regulations all the grading of the certificate are counted, excluding religion, ethics and conducting, but including the grades of examination for secondary school certificate.

3. Academic/professional objectives of studies

The objective of Cosmetology studies is preparing the graduate to the work in cosmetic rooms with the full range of services. The preparation includes the ability of planning and conducting of all cosmetic and caring procedures, professional co-operation with the dermatologist, as well as knowledge concerning the legal and ethical conditions of the cosmetologist's profession.

The preparation is not limited to the theory; significant amount of laboratory and vocational trainings guarantee acquiring of the practical skills as well. The trainings are being held in four nine-post laboratories, equipped with the top-of-the-range devices and professional cosmetics. Thus, the Cosmetology graduate can directly start working in the modern cosmetic room.

It is possible to choose between two specialties in Cosmetology area: Specialistic Cosmetology or Cosmetics Chemistry and Technology. Depending of the chosen specialty, student can extend his knowledge in the field of Technology of Cosmetics Formulation, Chemistry of Cosmetic Material, Farmacognosis and Technology of Cosmetic Materials, Sensorics and Aromatherapy, Allergology, Dietetics, Aesthetic Dermatology, Dermatologic Oncology, Plastic Surgery.

The availability of choice can depend on the number of students willing to choose these specialties.

4. Studies continuation possibilities

The studies programme makes further learning possible on MSc level studies at the similar faculties, e.g. at: Public Health faculty (Uniwersytet Medyczny in Łódź), Cosmetology (Śląska Akademia Medyczna), Health Resort Touristic (Górnośląska Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa im. 6. Final examination procedure

To achieve the title of Cosmetology Licentiate students have to successfully complete all required studies subjects, and submit the Licentiate thesis written under the conferral teacher's control.

7. Evaluation's rules

The semester is regarded as completed if the student got at least satisfactory grade for all the subjects included in studies schedule, including obligatory and facultative ones, as well as the vocational training card, in the time limit specified for each semester.
The grades used in PWSZ in Nysa are as follows: very good (5,0), good plus (4,5), good (4,0), satisfactory plus (3,5), satisfactory (3,0), unsatisfactory (2,0).
The crediting is based on student's activity and affirmation of his knowledge and skills.
Crediting of the lecture that do not end with an examination depends on passing a test. Failing crediting a class, laboratory, seminar and other lecture related classes prevents taking examination.

9. VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Vocational trainings complete theoretical knowledge acquired during classes. Thanks to them, the Cosmetology graduate can directly start working after finishing studies.
The trainings are held after 2nd and 4th semester, 4 weeks each (160 hours each). The trainings should be carried out in cosmetic rooms and SPA resorts in a whole country territory. It is possible to organize vocational trainings outside Poland boundaries, by the means of international exchange and complete adjustment of studies programmes to European ECTS standards.
